About The ArtistGail BracegirdleGail Bracegirdle is a representational artist whose watercolors are filled with light and color. She prefers to work from life or from sketches made on location in order to observe and capture the effects of direct and reflected light and shadow on her subject. Gail B. (as her work is signed) studied textile design at Moore College of Art and had a career in that industry until 1990. Wanting to explore new challenges, she began to dedicate all her time and energy to painting in watercolor. In 1993, she added teaching to her list of accomplishments and finds this to be a "wonderfully enjoyable and rewarding experience". Now, a faculty and Board member of ARTWORKS Visual Arts School in Trenton, and Triangle Art, in Lawrenceville NJ, she has held summer workshops at the Ocean City (NJ) Arts Center and 'plein air' workshops in both Beaufort SC and Chimayó NM. Her first paintings in were of carefully observed flowers, foliage and objects in a still life or outdoor setting. They incorporated bold color, texture and pattem and reflected both her professional background and love of nature. Today, the artist's interest and direction have evolved to sharing with the viewer the impression of an experience, a mood, or even an occasional visual pun through the language of transparent watercolor. A signature member of the Philadelphia Water Color Society, her paintings are actively exhibited in juried, group and solos shows throughout the region, and are held in private collections in the United States, Europe and Australia. Awards & HonorariaShe has won numerous awards at shows including the Bianco Foundation Exhibition, Perkins Center for the Arts Annual Watercolor Show, Community Arts National Juried Show, Phillips Mill Annual Art Exhibition, and Camden Country Annual Juried Art Exhibition. She has served as a juror for exhibitions held by the Doylestown Art League, the Philadelphia Sketch Club and Ocean City Art Center and has been invited to speak at Doylestown Art League and Philadelphia Sketch Club.
